Casual Saturday
Ah, Saturday. A day to sleep in, do nothing, enjoy the relaxing sounds of birds singing while you sit on the patio with a cup of coffee. Or not. How about – get up early, clean house, run here, run there, cook, clean up, collapse into bed. Yeah, that’s more like it.
So the question for any frugalistas worth her salt: what do you wear on a busy Saturday? Do you care? Do you just throw on a pair of jeans and ratty t-shirt before rushing out the door? Honestly? Some days, yes. But over the past year I’ve decided I owe it to myself to put some effort into even my Saturday attire. And I’m so glad I made that decision. You know how it is – the one time you wear your rattiest clothes for that quick trip to Wal-Mart you see someone you have seen in years. You have two choices: a quick swerve to the next aisle (while praying they don’t turn the same way) or meet them head on with your brightest smile and a lame excuse why you look that way.
Today I chose stripes, again. Big surprise. I know, I’m kind of crazy for stripes, but honestly they just make me happy. The silver sandals are my first of the season and mandated I paint my really unfortunate looking bare toenails a pretty pink color. I was comfortable all day, whether pushing a grocery cart through Costco or making the third trip to the grocery store for forgotten items (and to return the Redbox movie I forgot earlier). Yep, one of those days.
