Just do it

10.31.14

Some days I just don’t want to dress up. Today was one of those days. I knew I would be cleaning out our office and moving things around so I just wanted to be comfortable. And this outfit did the trick. Still looked nice enough to be seen in public, but allowed me to do everything I needed to do without a lot of fuss or adjusting during the day. You know what I mean.

I want to say a quick word about these shoes. They. Are. Fabulous. Cute, stylish and they feel more like house slippers than awesome shoes. That’s Aerosoles for you! I’ll be taking these little beauties with me to NYC in a few weeks and fully expect to be comfy for all that city walking. Sometimes you just need a pair of comfortable loafers to get you through the day.

I love all your comments, so please keep them coming!

If you have a minute, would you swing on over and check out my new music site? I just added some new Christmas songs!  http://www.reverbnation.com/loriyeary

What I wore:

White v-neck t-shirt: H&M
Green 3/4 sleeve cardigan: Target
Jordache skinny ankle jeans: Walmart
Aerosoles Nu Moon Loafers: DSW (You can find them here)

Frugally yours,

Lori

Falling

10.30.14I am happily (you might say giddily) embracing the cooler weather. I know, it’s not quite as cool as our friends up north, but hey, I’ll take what I can get. The ability to throw on a scarf (and not be sweltering within 10 minutes) is a happy feeling I can embrace. I love scarves as accessories so you’ll see them a lot in the coming weeks. They’re soft, colorful and versatile – not to mention an exceptionally affordable accessory! I found this scarf last year and love the combination of blue, orange, green and brown. Perfect Fall colors.

On a personal note, I have worn glasses and/or contacts for a very long time. I’ve always liked finding different, stylish frames but they cost a small fortune (especially with my prescription) so when I started looking for alternatives I was thrilled to find Zenni Optical. It’s the first online place I’ve found that actually offers Progressive Lenses! And the prices are enough to make me do a happy dance. Seriously, they’re that good!  Here’s a sneak peek at the glasses I ordered:

You can click on the photo to go directly to the Zenni Optical website. They are so cute – and BLUE – and I can’t wait to get them. Stay tuned – I guarantee you’ll see them here as soon as they arrive! (Just so you know, I’m getting nothing from this endorsement except the thrill of knowing I might just save you a little money on your next pair of glasses!)

Fall, Finally

10.29.14a
I hesitate to say it, but I think Fall is here. Finally. Today the high was under 80 degrees for the first time so I have a glimmer of hope. I know that probably doesn’t sound like much to those of you in the north/northeast, but it’s awesome for us here in Texas. It’s a breath of relief, for sure and I had to fight the urge to pull out a heavy sweater! I love Fall and Winter, so please bear with me while I rush ahead into sweater weather. I’ll have to hold back for a little while, but I’ll be wearing sweaters as soon as possible. I am, without apology a huge fan of cool weather. Guess maybe I should be living up north. Or something. But for now, I’m in Texas. And as a native Texan, I am happy about that. And thankful our winters are fairly short. A contradiction, but I’m a woman and thereby entitled to change my mind at a moment’s notice.

If you notice something different about my thumbnails, it’s the Jamberry’s I wore to support JDRF Walk for a Cure in Austin on Sunday. Anything for my awesome granddaughter, the lovely Miss Ry!

Choices

10.28.14

I didn’t feel like choosing today. So I literally put on the first thing I grabbed in the closet. Lucky for me it was clean and looked halfway decent. It was just one of those days. I felt uninspired to create an “outfit” – ever have one of those days? Usually I can get at least a little enthusiastic about what I wear, but I guess the busy weekend caught up with. Will you forgive my momentary lapse? I promise I’ll try to do better tomorrow. Thanks for your indulgence!

This is part of the reason for my busy weekend – my lovely granddaughter, Miss Ry! Ry is Type 1 Diabetic, so I went to Austin for the JDRF Walk for a Cure. If you recognize the shirt it’s from www.wewillremedy.com!

Easy Does It

10.27.14

Did you have a busy weekend? I sure did – Friday with my mother-in-love, Saturday chores, then date night with AH. I actually got to sing with a friends band which was totally cool! Sunday was spent with my daughter and family in Austin for the JDRF Walk for a Cure. When I drove home AH had bought and prepared a fantastic dinner. Nice weekend, but busy. The outfit in today’s photo was what I wore Friday with my mom-in-love. It was comfortable and easy to wear for our busy day. Even the shoes are comfortable – and totally cute. Pretty good combination, no?

Pushing It

10.24.14

At some point, hopefully before too long, I’ll be complaining about how cold it is. This is not that day. I’m anxiously awaiting that first frosty morning so I can pull out one of my nice, cozy sweaters and and scarf. And maybe even have to put on my coat before leaving the house. But for now I’ll keep pushing it by wearing my boots and cotton sweaters. At least it will be Fall in my mind…

Simplicity

10.23.14

Sometimes it’s just better to keep things simple. Like this outfit, for instance. The top and pants are both easy to wear and worked well for my busy day. The fact that both pieces came from Target are an added bonus. A very affordable bonus, I might add. The very best kind of outfit for a frugal shopper!

In Between-3

10.22.14

I guess I’m just stubborn. I figure it’s October and to heck with temperatures in the 80s. I’m. Wearing. Boots. It just makes me feel like it’s really Fall, so I’m doing it. I love this scarf, too. The colors just work and pull everything together. I guess that’s what a good accessory does.

In Between/2

10.21.14

It’s still the in-between season – and looks like it will be for awhile longer. Beautiful weather to be sure, but challenging for my wardrobe. This great long sleeved blouse from The LOFT was the perfect weight for today – and literally went from 7:00AM to 11:00PM with no need to change. Now that’s an outfit I can appreciate.

In Between

10.20.14

We are in the “in-between” season in Texas. Not cool. Not hot. Pleasant, yes, but also difficult to dress for. It’s at this point I find cotton sweaters to be the best option. And a scarf makes a nice accessory, adding color and a little texture without extra weight. It’s all about comfort, my friends.
