Life Happens

We all have those seasons. Life seems to speed up, slow down and spin out of control. All at the same time. We’re in one of those seasons right now. My singing career is taking off, AH’s work has gotten a little crazy and we just moved my wonderful mom-in-love into assisted living. Between singing gigs, my part time job and helping clean out mom’s house it’s been challenging to find time to keep writing. But I y’all, so I’m still here. Fair warning – if I miss an occasional day’s post, don’t worry. I’m not going anywhere, just probably forgot to press the “post” button!

Today’s outfit brings back my white Jordache jeans. It is after Easter, you know… With the blue sweater it’s quite a comfortable outfit. The nude sandals are some of my favorites, so I’m happy to be wearing them again. Have a lovely Monday!

Polka Dotty

I really wish Target had these ruffled tanks again this year. I bought several last season and almost wore them out – almost. I like the fact that I can layer a light cotton sweater and be comfortable in pretty much any temperature spring might offer. That’s the key to our Texas weather – be prepared. When it’s super humid and sticky outside you can be assured of freezing cold restaurants and shops. Always best to bring along a sweater.

Wrap it Up

I am a huge fan of wrap dresses. Especially ones in a lovely, easy to wear knit. This dress would pack like a dream – in fact I might take it on an upcoming trip. Add to the equation that I bought the dress at Ross ($14.00) and this outfit is just about perfect. Oh, did I mention the shoes are from Payless? Yes indeed, this little outfit comes in at just under $40.00. Including the jewelry. Frugal shopper, indeed.

Predictably Unpredictable

Spring weather is nothing if unpredictable. We can have 80 degree weather for 3 days, then highs in the 60s for a day or two before it shoots back up again. last week was no exception. We had planned dinner on a wonderful restaurant patio with some friends and were determined NOT to eat indoors. So I wore this sweater and jeans – and was just fine, thank you very much. You know how much I love this coral color, so it was a natural choice for me. The sweater, tank top and jeans are all from Target. Gotta love frugal fashion, right?

Classics

You’ve seen this sweater before, but I never get tired of it. It’s one of those pieces I bought that had more potential than I ever realized. I really wish I’d bought two, because when this one finally wears out I will probably cry a bucket of fashion tears. That’s the way it goes, though. We never know what pieces are going to be our favorites. Hindsight is always 20/20.

Bringing it Back

It’s time to bring back the olive skinny pants. Another great neutral option – if you’re tired of black and gray – because it can be paired with so many other colors. The exception might be purple, but I’m inclined to think the right shade might actually work. I just might have to give it a try…

Some of you have asked about my handbags. I don’t normally post photos because I’m a creature of habit and tend to use one bag all the time. The bag in today’s outfit is one of my growing collection of COACH bags. I only buy them at the outlet stores, and only when they’re on sale for 50% of even the outlet price. This light gold bag is pretty close to perfect – it goes with everything. It’s the first bag my awesome husband bought me – and I’m not sure he knew what he was doing. I’m a big fan of COACH bags now – they’re extremely well made and definitely worth the money. Especially when you get them for about 1/3 of what you’d pay at the regular price. Definitely a savvy shopper’s dream.

Spring Has Sprung

Well I think Spring is officially here to stay. We actually hit 80 degrees this week, and although we’ll cool off a little this weekend I think we’re headed straight to summer. I’ll be doing a final clean out of my closet this weekend – I’m planning to donate a lot of things to charity in a effort to pair down my wardrobe. Spring cleaning, here I come!

Pretty Pixie

I mentioned these Old Navy Pixie pants a couple of weeks ago. I ordered them online, but they were out of stock so it took a little longer to get them. I’m so glad I went ahead and got them! Even though they’re bright, I absolutely love them. They just shout SPRING – and after all the sweaters and boots of winter I’m ready for some warmer weather and bright colors. Aren’t you?

Striped Reality

Have you figured out that I’m a huge fan of stripes? This striped shirt from Target is so awesome I just might have to buy a couple more. It is so comfortable, easy to wear and well, perfect. I don’t know if the other colors would be the same, but it is just the right combination of comfort, ease and – well everything a shirt needs. I know, I know – I’m wearing jeans again, but I promise I’ll get back to something different tomorrow. Maybe…

Coral and Grey

I love simple outfits. No fuss, just easy, wearable pieces that make getting dress a breeze. I’m on a bit of a stripe kick again, and 3/4 length sleeves are so perfect for this time of year. Grey is a new neutral favorite of mine.  As you saw yesterday (the grey dress), grey pairs beautifully with so many colors, and coral is no exception. My new coral Pixie pants from Old Navy are sure to be some of my favorites for spring and summer. I plan to get as much use out them as possible!
