Affordable Fashion for Every Day

Busy, busy, busy

9.16.15-2

I regret not getting a full length photo of this outfit, but I was running late for a gig… Thank goodness for a wonderful fan who snapped this during a break! This is the first time I’ve worn these great knit wide leg pants, and when I walked out to leave the house AH said “You look like you could be in Rowan and Martin’s “Laugh-In”. In a good way.” Nice save, dear.

This was my busiest singing weekend ever! Five gigs in five days. Maybe a little ambitious (ok, a lot), but I had an absolute blast at every gig. I am truly living my dream. I hope to post some new video on my music website soon. I’ll be sure and let you know when they’re up!

Today’s Outfit:

Coco Bianco blue knit top: Stein Mart
Jennie & Marlis printed knit wide-leg pants: Stein Mart
Franco Sarto nude sandals: Ross
Gold bracelet: Charming Charlie

Have a lovely, healthy day!

So Simple

9.12.15

I know this outfit isn’t long on bright colors, but it is extremely comfortable. The lightweight black top is great for our still 90+ degree days, and the olive pants make me at least feel like fall weather might be coming at some point. Maybe in October. After all, this is Texas. Where we sometimes go from summer straight into winter. With a brief (very brief) autumn stopover. In fact, it looks like we’ll have highs in the 80s all the way up to October 1st. Sweater weather will have to wait…

Today’s Outfit:

Merona top: Target
Democracy olive pants: Ross
Rampage black wedge sandals: DSW

Have a lovely, healthy day!

Clearance

9.9.15

You never know what you’ll find on a clearance rack. Take this great striped top. I found it on a clearance rack at White House/Black Market. In New York City. Last year. It’s been sitting in my closet – I’m not sure why I haven’t worn it, but there you have it. I can imagine wearing it a bit more this fall. Say, with a black leather jacket and skinny jeans…

Today’s Outfit:

Black and white peplum top: White House/Black Market
Merona black ankle pants: Target
Nine West peep toe black pumps: DSW

Have a lovely, healthy day!

First Impression

9.4.15

This chambray dress was perfect for my first day of work at my new job. Granted I was a little overdressed (as I mentioned before it’s a very casual office), but I’m a firm believer in first impressions and was pleased with my choice. The pockets meant I could carry my phone as I toured the office – as well as gave me something to do with my hands besides fidget!

I hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend!

Today’s Outfit:

Chambray Dress: Eshakti
Comfort Plus by Predictions red pumps: Payless
Red belt: Ross

**Some of you have asked about LYDesigns jewelry. It’s actually Lori Yeary Designs. A few years ago I had a jewelry design business, but I mainly just make jewelry for my own amusement/amazement now. I do some custom work for weddings, but it’s not really a “business” anymore. If you are interested in a custom piece, let me know and we’ll chat. I might just come out of retirement!

Have a lovely, healthy day!

Risk/Reward

9.2.15

Am I the only one who feels like September just snuck up and smacked me? It seems like yesterday it was June, and although we still have summer weather (still in the low 90s during the day), I can almost smell fall just around the corner. Time flies way too fast.

So, I meandered through The Loft last week and couldn’t resist checking out the “final sale” rack. Now, I wouldn’t normally buy a pair of brightly colored floral pants, but these just about jumped in my hand. I figured it wouldn’t hurt to try them on and wouldn’t you know they followed me home like a lost puppy? They’re uber comfortable, cool and I have to admit really cute. I’ve already worn them twice and have a sneaky suspicion they just might look great with a tan cotton sweater and nude heels in the very near future. Definitely worth the $19.88 I paid for them.

Have a great week!

Today’s Outfit:

Merona black top: Target
Floral cropped pants: The LOFT
Madden Girl black sandals: DSW (Last year)

Monday, Monday

8.31.15

My humble apologies for being so late in posting today. I started the new job and it was a bit overwhelming. But I think it’s going to be great fit for me – and hopefully I can get my act together soon and get back to a regular posting schedule!

Thankfully the office is very casual – so I don’t have to go shopping for a bunch of “professional” type pieces. I really want to stretch what I have as far as possible – economy is the key right now. Can anyone relate???

Have a great week!

Today’s Outfit:

Faded Glory top: Walmart
Faded Glory white capri pants: Walmart
Montego Bay sandals: Payless (I don’t even remember when I got them!)

Just Like That

8.28.15

And just like that, it’s Friday again. Seriously, is it just me or do the weeks seem to fly by faster? I’ve been in overdrive this week – I start my new job on Monday, so I’ve been trying to cram everything I can into this week. With the new job, singing gigs, spending time with friends and family it’s been just a little hectic. But I guess that’s what makes life interesting, right?

The green maxi skirt in today’s outfit is probably 3 years old. I found it at CATO and struggled for awhile to find the right tops for it. Today I just threw caution to the wind and went with  what felt right. And it did, all day long. Comfortable, cool and well, easy. Three very important components to any summer outfit.

Have a great weekend!

Today’s Outfit:

Sleeveless printed shirt: CATO
Coral camisole: Ann Taylor Outlet
Olive knit maxi skirt: CATO
B.O.C. gold sandals: DSW (last season)

Monday, Monday

8.24.15

Happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend. Mine was good, but busy – which is a good thing. With Fall approaching I can feel things starting to gear up and I know we’ll turn around and it will be December. Life has a way of speeding by, doesn’t it?

It’s still pretty hot here – we’ve got a few more weeks of 90+ degree days, but at least it’s starting to cool off again at night (if you call 75 degrees cool…). I’m desperately trying not to buy any clothes for awhile – so I’ll be trying some new combinations in the coming weeks. I hope you’ll like them!

Have a great week!

Today’s Outfit:

Merona olive top: Target
Denim skirt: Old Navy
Brown leather belt: Target
Franco Sarto brown wedge sandals: DSW (last season)

Have a lovely, healthy day!

Changes

8.21.15

Happy Friday! This is has been an interesting week. My part-time job ended (officially) last week and I dreaded the prospect of having to look for another one. I revised my resume, posted it online and sent out as many emails as I could. One went to my neighborhood online bulletin board. I got a reply that afternoon from a neighbor (one I’ve yet to meet!) asking for my resume. She passed it along to her dad, who passed it on to someone he knew. I got a call Tuesday from a local business owner and scheduled an interview for yesterday (Thursday). At the end of the interview he offered me the job! Y’all – I didn’t really want another full time job but was willing to pursue any leads that came up. Well this job is part time! And I can work from home part of every week so I have the flexibility I wanted and still be able to sing, write blogs and generally have a life. Not going to sugarcoat it – I really prayed about this and am so delighted. God answers prayer. Yes. He does.

Have a great weekend!

Today’s Outfit:

Orange and white dotted knit top: Chico’s (Clearance/recent)
Denizen stretch denim shorts: Target (last year)
Aerosoles brown wedge sandals: DSW (last season)

Have a lovely, healthy day!

Black and White

8.19.15I find myself reaching for this skirt more and more lately. Yes, it’s white denim, but it just feels cooler to me. And when paired with a classic, breezy (and sleeveless) button front shirt it just made sense for a busy day. I found the skirt last year at JC Penney and it was well worth the $25, let me tell you. I’ve definitely gotten my money’s worth – plus some. It’s a classic skirt that will be a summer staple for many seasons to come!

Today’s Outfit:

Merona black sleeveless button front shirt: Target (recent)
White denim skirt: JC Penney (last year)
Aerosoles black wedge sandals: DSW (this season)

Have a lovely, healthy day!
