Singing the Blues

Thanks so much for all the sweet comments! It makes my day to hear from you!

Looking over the last few posts, I seem to be on a blue kick lately. What can I say? I like blue. It reminds me of my dad, who would always grin, take off his glasses and show off his blue eyes whenever I said I liked whatever blue shirt, tie or sweater he was wearing. I miss him, but I get my blue eyes from him so it’s a nice connection.  It’s funny how little things can trigger sweet memories.

Hopefully our cold weather is finally on the retreat. I’ll be thinking about spring outfits over the weekend in anticipation of starting to pull out some of my warmer weather clothes. I think I’ll repeat my strategy from last fall and try very hard not to buy much until I know what I have. It worked pretty well and kept me from going too crazy. We shall see…

Today’s Outfit:

Plaid shirt: Old Navy
Blue cotton sweater: Old Navy
Jordache grey skinny jeans: Walmart
Bandolino black leather riding boots: DSW
Blue scarf: Target

Have a lovely, healthy day!

Lori, I just discovered your blog. Love you in blue and love your voice. I have a question for you. I sing in a rock cover band and struggle to select performance clothes and jewelry. I am a young 63 year old. Any suggestions?

    • Hi Linda! Thanks so much for the question! It can be tricky to be edgy/appropriate (is that even possible?) when performing on stage. I usually wear a tunic style top over skinny jeans/leggings and heels. I’ve also seen some really nice kimono style tops that would work very well. I opt for large, sparkly earrings and usually a long necklace – I try to streamline as much as possible, thus the heels and fitted pants. As long as a top covers my derriere (usually mid-thigh) I figure I can get away with the skinny jeans/leggings for a little while longer! I’ll try to post some “gig” photos in the next week or so – I have several coming up! I hope this helps!
