Orange in winter?

I love bright colors in winter. Especially on a cold, dreary, rainy day. The orange sweater in today’s outfit was an end of season clearance purchase at Macy’s ($10!!) and I’m so glad I bought it! It works great alone, but I like the brown checked flannel shirt under it as well. I’ll also pair it with a chambray shirt and black and white checked shirt just to mix things up a bit. It definitely fits into the “must be paired with at least three wardrobe items” rules of frugal dressing. Here’s how I’ll probably wear it:

Orange zip neck sweater from Macy’s paired with:
Black and white checked shirt/denim leggings or black skinny jeans/black boots
Chambray shirt/khaki pants/scarf/brown booties
Brown turtleneck/denim skirt/brown (or maybe orange!) tights and boots
White button front shirt/denim leggings/brown riding boots

Today’s outfit:

Orange zip neck sweater: Macy’s
Brown and White checked flannel shirt: Old Navy
Jordache denim leggings: Walmart
Bandolino brown riding boots: DSW
Brown/orange/green print scarf: Ross

Frugally yours,
