Style Savvy DFW

Affordable Fashion for Every Day

Risky Business

Today did not start off well. I had an outfit all picked out (blazer, top, skirt, boots), then checked the weather and saw it was going to be 80 degrees. Had to rethink my outfit. Totally threw me off. I literally changed clothes 4 times just to find something I didn’t think looked heinous. Seriously.

I’m trying something new today, and a little out of my comfort zone. But I absolutely LOVE the new “shooties” or “booties” this season. They are so cute and fun I couldn’t resist buying a pair during a recent DSW excursion. Then I immediately had buyer’s remorse. I mean, what am I doing wearing something so trendy at the age of 54? Well, throwing caution to the wind I kept the shooties and took a chance today on wearing them. I would really love to know what you think. Honestly. Love them or hate them? Would you wear them?

Today’s outfit:

Polka dot knit top: The LOFT
Olive Pants: Ross
Nine West black shooties: DSW
Pearl strands: Claire’s
Pearl statement necklace: Sample Sale (I found a similar one at Charming Charlie)

Frugally yours,

P.S. Thought you might like a closeup of the “shooties”

Hi! I think the shooties look great, 54 or not! I recently found your blog and love seeing your outfits. I appreciate your inspiration. I’m 54 too and feel like I struggle with what to wear that’s fashionable and age appropriate. I don’t live in your area, but let me know if you ever offer any internet help. Thanks for your blog!

I have been following you for a couple of months and it is nice to have a blog for the mature but not dead to style. I am 63 and I love your shooties and would wear them. I love DSW too. I am petite, so I don’t have much luck at target, but like the loft for pants and jeans, Asos for blazers, Macy’s and Dillards for dresses. I am in Louisiana so we are neighbors. Congratulations on the weight loss- so hard to do and the older we get- well you know the rest. Keep the posts coming.
